The department aims to maintain a safe and comfortable environment with the highest standards for our guests.

As Maintenance Manager you will assume responsibility for Health & Safety within the hotel. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Bristol, it offers 26 rooms and suites, an award-winning restaurant, bar and two unique meeting and conference spaces.

As Maintenance Manager, you will report directly to the Hotel Manager. While this is a hands-on operational role, the successful candidate will be confident in coordinating and liaising with external contractors and third-party providers, as well as effectively leading their own team to ensure all on-site maintenance requirements are managed efficiently and to a high standard.

Job Description:

  • Salary from £36,000, depending on experience
  • Additional share of service charge and tips (paid monthly)
  • Full time, permanent position 40 hours a week over 5 working days and might involve weekends if needed with occasional 'on call' shifts
  • 8 hour shifts, flexible hours in line with business needs
  • Manage and carry out maintenance tasks reported by hotel management and staff

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a scheduled basis
  • Maintain awareness of property safety procedures, including first aid and fire and emergency protocols, and ensure safe operation of all equipment
  • Complete Health & Safety checks, including fire alarm testing
  • Adhere strictly to all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Work effectively as part of a small team and collaborate with wider departments to support smooth operational delivery
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by hotel management

Qualifications:

As well as having previous experience in a similar role, you will hold relevant trade-based qualifications in general maintenance disciplines such as plumbing, electrical or joinery. You will be confident working independently without close supervision and demonstrate strong ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively. A proactive, can-do attitude is essential, along with adaptability and agility in responding to a range of maintenance requests and operational needs. You will be proficient in IT systems for building and maintenance controls, including app-based platforms for logging, tracking, and managing tasks. You will ideally hold a NEBOSH qualification or be willing to work towards one. Experience in writing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and undertaking risk assessments is also required. Experience working within listed buildings would be highly advantageous.
