As our Assistant Merchandiser, you’ll play a key role in supporting the planning and trading of product categories to deliver sales, stock and margin targets. Working closely with the Merchandiser and wider cross-functional teams, you’ll help ensure ranges are commercially balanced, well-managed and aligned to business objectives. From range planning through to in-season trading and stock management, you’ll be instrumental in driving performance, maintaining accurate systems and identifying opportunities to maximise sales across channels.

Who you are

  • Previous experience in a merchandising or assistant merchandising role within a retail head office environment.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to interpret data and translate it into clear actions.
  • Confident working with systems, reporting tools and Excel to manage data and analysis.
  • A strong communicator, able to build effective relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused, with a willingness to take ownership and support team development.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting the range planning process by preparing buy packs, historical analysis, lessons learnt, and size profiling to inform decision-making.
  • Maintaining merchandising systems in line with the critical path, ensuring accuracy across product data and purchase orders.
  • Liaising with suppliers to track deliveries and ensure timelines are met in line with critical path requirements.
  • Assisting with weekly trade preparation, analysing performance and identifying opportunities to drive sales and improve stock efficiency.
  • Managing category WSSI’s, ensuring stock, markdown and future commitments are accurately reflected and aligned to targets.
  • Taking ownership of stock management activities including markdown set up, intake reviews and forecasting to optimise stock levels.
  • Producing regular sales, intake and stock forecasts, as well as managing reporting tools such as IAQ, attribute analysis and system alignment.
  • Supporting people development by coaching and guiding Trainee Merchandisers, while building strong cross-functional relationships across Buying, Merchandising and wider teams.
