Brief Overview

This key role is within the EMEA region and the Global Valuation Team. The VP & Actuary, EMEA Valuation leads the valuation reporting process for Financial Solutions reinsurance business under the applicable reporting bases, primarily US GAAP (LDTI), Solvency II, and other required bases. The incumbent engages with internal teams and senior management, provides clear communication, and partners across functions. They also support corporate planning, risk reporting, financial model enhancement, assumption review, and processes that improve valuation outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and manage the end‑to‑end valuation reporting process for the Financial Solutions business in the region, covering US GAAP, Solvency II, US Statutory and other bases as required.
  • Drive the development and streamlining of valuation models, processes, and analytics, providing actuarial and business judgement to ensure accurate delivery.
  • Liaise with Finance, stakeholder teams, and senior management to understand and communicate results.
  • Work with Business Development and Pricing teams to align valuation infrastructure with transaction pipelines and growth opportunities.
  • Review and approve the implementation of actuarial models and data feeds into the financial reporting platform.
  • Assess valuation model performance against actual experience, advising on and implementing changes to models, processes, and assumptions as required.
  • Propose assumption changes for relevant business lines in partnership with related teams.
  • Promote improvement in valuation approaches by liaising with other lines of business and company functions, and lead and influence best practices where appropriate.
  • Enhance governance and control infrastructure, maintain a strong control environment, and report accordingly to Audit, Risk and other teams.
  • Develop and maintain experience monitoring analytics, review actuarial assumptions, and recommend updates as needed.
  • Deliver business plan, internal capital, risk reporting and other regulatory requirements.
  • Engage proactively with partner teams.
  • Mentor associates and guide their development.
  • Support other business lines as required.

Qualifications

  • Actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance, including 3–5 years of managerial and leadership experience.
  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries or an equivalent professional designation.

Skills And Abilities

  • Strong understanding of reserving techniques across different bases.
  • Familiarity with US GAAP and Solvency II financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with longevity insurance and reinsurance products.
  • Ability to understand quantitative output, validate financial models, and assess against business experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of insurance financial metrics and analysis techniques.
  • Highly advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL etc.), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (MoSes, TAS, AXIS, Prophet etc.).
  • Strong communication skills to convey business terminology in a clear and meaningful way to all stakeholders, including customers and associates.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across disciplines such as pricing, investments, accounting, systems and administration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Drive for process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to balance leading, managing and individual participation.
