A Brief Overview
The role is an excellent opportunity to join RGA's growing team in Bermuda and to gain valuable in-depth experience in the fast-growing long term reinsurance sector on the island. Reporting directly to the Bermuda Chief Financial Officer, and working closely with the Bermuda Head of Compliance, the successful candidate will contribute to high-profile finance and regulatory compliance initiatives managed by both the finance and compliance teams, providing direct project management skills and direct day-to-day reporting support, whilst gaining a deep understanding of RGA's global business and operations. What you will do:
- Financial Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of comprehensive finance management reports and Board presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors of RGA’s Bermuda registered legal entities.
- Regulatory Reporting: Assist in preparation of materials, presentations and reports to be submitted to regulatory bodies, including the Bermuda Monetary Authority and Registrar of Companies.
- Project Management: Lead and coordinate finance and compliance-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder communication across RGA’s operations both in Bermuda and in other global RGA offices.
- Compliance Process Development: Assist in designing and implementing compliance-specific internal control processes in line with Bermuda legal and regulatory requirements, and the RGA Global Compliance program.
- Budget Management: Assist in developing, monitoring, and analyzing the operating expense budget of the Bermuda operations. Prepare ongoing analytical review and investigate variances.
- Internal Controls: Support the continued design and implementation of legal entity-specific internal control processes and frameworks in compliance with international standards and local to ensure financial integrity.
- Regulatory Reporting: Prepare compliance management reports and Board presentations in accordance with Bermuda regulatory requirements.
- Treaty Compliance: Working with the Head of Compliance, Chief Pricing Officer and regional Business Development teams, develop and maintain and monitor a treaty compliance program, ensuring all internal and external reporting requirements established in reinsurance treaties are completed in a timely fashion.
- Compliance Monitoring: Working with the Head of Compliance and RGA’s Global Compliance function to develop processes for ongoing monitoring of group compliance requirements, leveraging group compliance policies and procedures where practical.
- Compliance Training: Coordinate regular and ad-hoc compliance training for Bermuda Home Office employees, including monitoring participation and ensuring the completion of scheduled mandatory training modules.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Post‑graduate or professional qualification in related field, or in process of obtaining such qualification preferred.
- 3+ Years experience in finance, regulatory and/or compliance roles in the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance industry required.
- Previous experience with regulatory reporting and compliance programs required.
- Project management experience required.
- 5+ Years experience in finance and/or compliance roles in the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance industry preferred.
- Excellent numeracy skills required.
- Excellent data management skills required.
- Understanding of Bermuda insurance and reinsurance regulations; regulatory framework; insurance or reinsurance reporting requirements required.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received required.
- Investigative, analytical and problem solving skills required.
- Must be able to travel as required.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint), required.
- Working knowledge of other key business technologies including Project Management tools, Workflow Management (Workiva), databases, Artificial Intelligence tools and CRM, required.
- Understanding of US GAAP, and Bermuda Statutory Accounting reporting preferred.
- Knowledge of life, health, or annuity insurance products preferred.
- Knowledge of BMA‑issued regulations, filing requirements and guidance notes as applicable to a Long‑Term insurer/reinsurer preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of key technologies including key business technologies including Project Management tools, Workflow Management (Workiva), databases, Artificial Intelligence tools and CRM preferred.
- Insurance or reinsurance industry certifications preferred.
