Join an established specialist contractor restoring and conserving historic buildings, churches and scheduled monuments. With more than 35 years in the sector, the business combines traditional craftsmanship with modern construction methods to preserve some of the UK's most significant buildings. Based in the Vauxhall estimating department, you will support experienced estimators across refurbishment, restoration and conservation tenders. This is an opportunity to build your technical knowledge, strengthen your pricing skills and gain practical experience through site visits and client meetings. The Role - What You'll Be Doing You will help prepare accurate, competitive tenders, working from drawings and specifications through to site assessments and supplier quotations. Review tender documents, drawings and specifications to understand project requirements. Break down the scope of works and identify the relevant trade packages. Complete measured take-offs from architectural drawings. Help build rates for in-house trades, including labour, plant and materials. Prepare enquiries for subcontractors and suppliers, then compare quotations and check scope coverage. Attend site visits to assess existing conditions, take measurements and identify factors affecting pricing. Join meetings with clients, surveyors, architects and subcontractors. Assist with preparing Schedules of Works and Bills of Quantities. Support quality submissions and check tenders meet the client's requirements. What We're Looking For This role would suit an Assistant Estimator or a construction professional with relevant technical experience looking to develop within estimating. Around two to five years' construction experience, ideally with exposure to estimating, refurbishment, masonry or conservation. Confidence reading construction drawings and understanding scopes of work. Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and an organised approach. A construction-related degree is preferred; an HNC or HND supported by relevant industry experience will also be considered. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project. Experience with Causeway Estimating or Bluebeam would be useful but is not essential. An interest in historic buildings and specialist restoration work. Previous conservation experience is advantageous rather than essential. You must have the right to work in the UK and be able to obtain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance. A full, clean UK driving licence and access to a car are preferred but not essential. What's on Offer £35,000-£45,000 salary, depending on experience.
