The Opportunity

I’m supporting a well-established construction contractor that delivers high-quality refurbishment, fit-out, design & build, M&E infrastructure and new build projects across London and the UK. They are now looking for an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction and commercial team in Paddington.

This position suits someone confident in managing the tendering and cost planning process for a diverse portfolio of projects across commercial, healthcare, retail, rail and other sectors. You will play a key role in shaping competitive bids and influencing commercial strategy from tender stage through to project award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction, refurbishment and fit-out projects.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to prepare competitive pricing.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and assess market rates.
  • Develop full tender submissions, including cost breakdowns, value engineering options and clarifications.
  • Provide commercial insight throughout the tender process to ensure robust, viable proposals.
  • Work closely with Pre-Construction, Project Management and Procurement teams to maintain consistent pricing practices and cost control.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as an Estimator, typically 5+ years within construction, refurbishment, fit-out or design & build.
  • Strong commercial acumen, numeracy and analytical ability.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and drawings with confidence.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and estimating/take-off software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
