Assistant Design Manager – Construction £50,000–£60,000 + Travel Expenses, Healthcare, Pension & Bonus Hybrid Working | Moorgate, London & Projects Across the South East The Opportunity Are you a Design Coordinator or Assistant Design Manager looking for more responsibility, career progression and flexible working? Join a well-established, privately owned contractor delivering industrial construction projects across the South East. You will help coordinate design from pre-construction through to completion, gaining broader project experience and developing towards a Design Manager role. The working arrangement combines remote working, site visits and one day per week in the Moorgate office. Projects span Hertfordshire to Hampshire, with business travel expenses covered. The Role – What You’ll Be Doing Working closely with project teams and external consultants, you will help ensure design information is coordinated, compliant and issued in line with procurement and construction programmes. Coordinate architects, structural engineers and other design consultants. Review drawings and specifications, identifying clashes, gaps and buildability issues. Track design information, outstanding queries and approvals to keep projects moving. Support design meetings and follow up actions with consultants and project teams. Work with project managers and site teams to resolve technical queries. Check design information against the project brief, contractual requirements and relevant regulations. Identify design risks early and help develop practical solutions. Maintain clear records of drawings, revisions and design decisions. What We’re Looking For This role would suit an Assistant Design Manager, Design Coordinator or Technical Coordinator with experience supporting the design and delivery of construction projects. Experience coordinating design information and working with consultants, contractors or site teams. Good technical knowledge and confidence reviewing construction drawings. An understanding of how design decisions affect buildability, cost and programme. Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to follow through on actions. Industrial construction experience would be useful, although candidates from other building sectors are welcome. A relevant construction, engineering or architectural qualification, or equivalent practical experience. Ability to travel to projects across the South East and attend the Moorgate office weekly. You do not need to have already held a full Design Manager role to be considered. What’s on Offer £50,000–£60,000 salary, depending on experience.
