Take Commercial Ownership of a Major London Residential Project
An established and growing residential developer is looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a major new build residential development in Deptford, South East London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who wants genuine project ownership while still having the support of an experienced Commercial Director.
Based between the company’s Vauxhall office and Deptford project, you will manage the scheme commercially from procurement through to final account, working closely with the wider construction and design teams.
With a strong pipeline of residential developments across London and the South East, there is also excellent long-term scope to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor and commercial management position.
The Role
As Project Quantity Surveyor, you will take day-to-day commercial responsibility for the project, including:
- Managing subcontractor procurement from tender through to appointment
- Preparing tender documentation and analysing subcontractor returns
- Managing valuations, variations and subcontractor payments
- Producing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow information
- Monitoring project budgets and identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Managing change control and protecting project margins
- Attending commercial, design and project meetings
- Working closely with site, design and construction teams
- Managing subcontractor commercial relationships
- Supporting the Commercial Director with project reporting and commercial strategy
- Taking the project through to final account

You will work directly with an experienced Commercial Director, giving you senior-level support and exposure while still having the autonomy to run your own project.
What They Are Looking For
The ideal Project Quantity Surveyor will have:
- Around 5+ years’ Quantity Surveying experience
- Previous new build residential experience strongly preferred
- Main contractor or residential developer experience
- Experience commercially managing subcontract packages
- Strong procurement, valuation, variation and cost-reporting experience
- Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
- Confidence taking commercial ownership of a live construction project
- Strong communication and subcontractor management skills
- Ambition to progress towards Senior Quantity Surveyor level and beyond
Salary & Package
- £60,000 – £75,000, depending on experience
- Travel allowance
