An established specialist façade contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
The business delivers façade and external envelope packages across London and the South East, working on a variety of residential and commercial developments.
With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can take commercial responsibility for their own projects while working alongside an experienced commercial and operational team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with specialist subcontracting experience who wants to join a stable and growing business, work on technically interesting façade projects and continue progressing their commercial career.
The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of façade projects, typically from procurement through to final account.
You will work closely with the project and contracts teams to ensure projects are commercially controlled, variations are captured and strong relationships are maintained with clients and the supply chain.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Commercial management of façade projects from pre-construction through to final account
- Preparing and submitting monthly valuations and applications for payment
- Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations
- Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts
- Procurement of subcontract packages and materials
- Preparing cost reports and monitoring project performance against budget
- Managing contractual correspondence and maintaining accurate commercial records
- Attending client and internal commercial meetings
- Monitoring cash flow and payments
- Preparing and negotiating final accounts
- Working closely with project managers to identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
About You
You will ideally have previous Quantity Surveying experience within the façade, cladding, curtain walling, glazing or wider building envelope sector.
Candidates from other specialist subcontracting backgrounds will also be considered where they have strong commercial experience.
You should have:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up
- Experience working for a specialist subcontractor
- Good understanding of valuations, variations, procurement and final accounts
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good contractual knowledge
- Confidence dealing with clients, main contractors and the supply chain
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage your own workload and take commercial ownership of projects
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification is preferred but not essential
