What you’ll do: As our next District Fleet Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the fleet team, supporting the day-to-day operational objectives across multiple district repair shops and satellite locations. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance activities, supporting enterprise fleet safety initiatives, managing technicians and fleet staff, and ensuring safe, productive, and cost-effective fleet operations that support SCA’s continued growth and operational excellence.

Your daily impact:

  • Maintenance Operations Management: Oversee daily fleet maintenance activities across district repair shops, mobile technicians, and satellite locations to support operational uptime and productivity.
  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Supervise technicians and fleet staff, evaluate productivity and repair quality. Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective guidance as needed.
  • Fleet Safety Leadership: Be a driving force and advocate for fleet safety standards, maintenance best practices, and safe repair activities across all district shop locations.
  • Team Leadership & Accountability: Directly supervise fleet staff, technicians, and/or parts coordinators while coaching, mentoring, and addressing performance or productivity concerns as needed.
  • Shop Inspections & Audits: Conduct shop and site inspections to assess asset condition, repair quality, technician effectiveness, and compliance with company safety standards.
  • Budget & Vendor Management: Support management of district maintenance budgets, repair costs, vendor relationships, and parts spend while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and control costs.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure fleet maintenance documentation, repair records, and compliance-related requirements are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Telematics & Technology Support: Ensure telematics, GPS, and camera systems are operational and coordinate repairs or troubleshooting for non-reporting units.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Maintain clear and consistent communication with district operational leadership, technicians, and the enterprise fleet team regarding fleet conditions, repair priorities, and operational concerns.
  • Technician Development & Training: Drive continuous improvement through technician coaching, training, education, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Hands-On Technical Support: Occasionally step into a technician role to assist with repairs and maintenance activities during labor shortages or operational emergencies.
  • Travel & Field Presence: Regularly travel to district sites, satellite locations, and geographically dispersed operations, including occasional overnight stays as needed.
  • Regular & Predictable Attendance: The ability to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled, with minimal unexcused absences.

Minimum job qualifications:

  • Education: High School or GED
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a technician/mechanic in an equipment or truck repair shop environment
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years of fleet or shop leadership experience with financial accountability, budgeting, and repair cost management responsibilities
  • Regulatory Knowledge: General understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations related to fleet maintenance and shop operations
  • License: Valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting: 60+ lbs
  • Sitting/Standing: Frequent standing, walking, driving, and movement between office, shop, and field environments
  • Dexterity: Ability to operate computers, tablets, mobile devices, tools, and maintenance-related equipment
  • Visual & Auditory: Normal or corrected vision and hearing sufficient to safely work in fleet shop and operational environments
  • Safety & Protective Gear: Required use of appropriate PPE, including high-visibility apparel, eye, ear, hand, foot, head, lung, and skin protection.
