Reigate School is seeking a committed and organised Food Technician to support our thriving Design & Technology / Food department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for food, education, and promoting high standards of health, safety, and hygiene. This is a part time role working 16 hours a week, 39 weeks a year.
You will play a key role in preparing materials, supporting practical lessons, and ensuring that our food technology facilities run efficiently and safely.
About You
- Experience in a school, laboratory, or food preparation environment is desirable but not essential.
- Has an interest in food, nutrition, or food science.
- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Can work independently as well as part of a team.
- Has good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for practical food lessons.
- Support teachers and students during food preparation sessions.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation in kitchens and classrooms.
- Monitor stock levels and manage ordering of ingredients and supplies.
- Assist with food product testing and basic evaluation activities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g. HACCP).
- Clean and store equipment safely after lessons.
- Support the department with administrative and organisational tasks.
