This is a new post within our ambitious and growing Environmental Health team. We require a fully qualified (EHORB registered) and experienced Environmental Health Officer for the role of Food and Safety Team Leader. You will have a thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene, health and safety at work and general public health matters, to lead the work of the food and safety teams.
Responsibilities
- This will cover all aspects of food hygiene and health & safety at work enforcement, plus infectious disease control duties, including public health funerals.
- Current competence to undertake food hygiene inspections is required.
- You will line manage officers within the teams and support the training and development of new or recently qualified officers and the Environmental Health Apprentice.
Qualifications
- Excellent current technical and legislative knowledge of environmental health, particularly food safety and hygiene, and health & safety legislation.
- Experience of inspecting, investigating and enforcing standards in a local government environmental health setting, including meeting current Food Standards Agency competence criteria to conduct high risk food hygiene interventions.
- Experience of managing people or teams to deliver effective performance.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- An investigative and analytical approach.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong IT skills and the ability to produce clear reports and case records.
