Are you an experienced service leader ready to take ownership of regional operational performance? Clarke Energy is seeking an Area Service Manager to lead, develop and deploy a regional field service team across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, ensuring contractual commitments are met and our high standards of safety, quality and customer service are consistently delivered.

This is a senior operational role with real accountability for people leadership, engine fleet performance and customer relationships across a strategically important region. You'll be at the heart of Clarke Energy's service delivery, leading a team of engineers while building strong customer partnerships and driving operational excellence.

Job Purpose

To manage the effective resourcing and deployment of Service Engineers and Apprentices within the Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland region, ensuring contractual performance targets, customer expectations and Clarke Energy standards are achieved at all times. The majority of your time will be spent managing and supporting the Field Service operational function across your region.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Leading and developing your regional service team
  • You will manage, motivate and develop a team of Service Engineers and Apprentices, ensuring that:
    • Team members are competent, supported and appropriately trained to perform their roles
    • Performance is reviewed on an ongoing basis, with development actions taken where required
    • Working hours, timesheets and expenses are monitored and controlled
    • All company policies and employment procedures are consistently followed
  • Delivering contractual performance
  • You will ensure the regional engine fleet performs above contractual guarantees by:
    • Planning and prioritising scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance
    • Managing contractual availability and performance obligations
    • Analysing performance data to drive continuous improvement
    • Managing the regional call-out rota to provide 24/7 cover
    • Forecasting decoke and overhaul requirements and working closely with Parts and Overhaul teams
    • Liaising with the Commissioning Manager regarding commissioning activities
  • Operational control and compliance
  • You will:
    • Ensure oil and coolant sampling is carried out in line with Clarke Energy codes of practice
    • Monitor quality and ensure prompt corrective actions where required
    • Ensure company processes for warranty and chargeable work are followed
    • Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements with the QUENSH department
    • Carry out unannounced audits of field teams for safe working practices
    • Monitor engineering practices to minimise cost and waste
    • Ensure engineering, vehicles and sites are audited and maintained to company standards
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • As the senior service representative in your region, you will:
    • Act as the first point of contact for customers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland
    • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
    • Hold regular customer meetings and provide technical and performance updates
    • Manage site scheduling and ensure compliance with customer procedures
    • Agree chargeable works with customers on a monthly basis
  • Leadership, Communication and Reporting
  • You will:
    • Keep the Field Service Operations Manager fully informed of regional performance
    • Escalate operational, contractual or people issues appropriately
    • Complete annual performance management reviews for your team
    • Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental standards are met at all times

    Technical Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Essential

    • Time-served engineer (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent)
    • Minimum of 10 years' engineering experience across electrical and mechanical disciplines
    • Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines and generators
    • CHP and balance of plant experience
    • Proven experience managing remote engineering teams
    • Strong customer relationship management experience
    • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
    • Good IT skills
    • Ability to work independently and lead by example

    Desirable

    • INNIO Jenbacher product knowledge
    • HNC / HND in Engineering or equivalent
    • Engine commissioning experience
    • Gas Safe registration
