We are looking for an experienced Communications Officer to join our small but busy Communications team at the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) on a fixed‑term maternity cover contract for a period of 12 months. Our work, at the heart of the organisation, covers internal and external communications.
As a Communications Officer, you will be responsible mainly for supporting RSH’s internal communications and engagement as well as contributing to wider communications work within the team. In this role you will deliver internal communications and engagement activity and support its planning and evaluation. You will have experience communicating complex and corporate information through clear, engaging written copy, good quality videos and imagery. You will also have experience of WordPress, intranet systems and SharePoint as well as some event management and stakeholder engagement. You will be able to handle competing priorities and be a flexible and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
As the successful candidate, you will have skilled technical knowledge as well as an in‑depth understanding of internal communications and digital / social media. Further experience in events, media relations, strategic communications and stakeholder engagement would also be beneficial. You will also have the ability to build and maintain key relationships at all levels of an organisation.
We offer a competitive salary within the range £42,079 – £46,510, a 35 hour working week, 33 days annual leave, access to the Civil Service Pension Scheme, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, family‑friendly policies, staff discount scheme, cycle to work scheme, Nuffield Health Screening and other well‑being benefits.
This role can be based out of any of RSH’s core offices in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Our Manchester and Bristol offices will be relocating during 2026/27, however will remain within the city centre. Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, with some roles also involving onsite visits to social housing providers.
