Location: Hybrid (staff are required to attend the central London office at least once a week, or more depending on business demands)

About the Role

Registry Trust is a not-for-profit organisation and the custodian of essential public data on credit, debt, and financial inclusion. Guided by our mission to use public data for the public good, we operate at the crossroads of financial services, public policy, and social impact, partnering with government, regulators, and industry. We are looking for an ambitious and well-connected Public Affairs Advisor to lead and strengthen our public policy and stakeholder engagement activity. This is a high-profile, high-impact role working directly with the CEO and Chair, offering a unique opportunity to shape policy influence, build senior relationships across government and industry, and elevate our external voice. You will play a key role in positioning the organisation at the heart of policy discussions, ensuring we are proactive, informed, and influential in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy leadership: Monitor, analyse, and interpret political and regulatory developments, shaping clear and timely organisational responses
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, government officials, regulators, and industry leaders
  • Advocacy & campaigns: Design and deliver impactful advocacy strategies aligned to organisational priorities
  • Data-led storytelling: Work closely with data and analytical experts to translate complex datasets into compelling narratives that support advocacy, policy development, and campaigns
  • Briefings & insight: Produce high-quality policy papers, consultation responses, and executive briefings
  • Executive support: Work closely with the CEO, Chair, and Executive Team on external engagement and strategic priorities
  • Profile & communications: Partner with Marketing & Communications to develop messaging, media engagement, and events
  • Collaboration & reporting: Provide insight to the Executive Team and work collaboratively across the organisation

About You

  • Proven experience in public affairs, policy, or government relations
  • Strong understanding of the UK political and legislative landscape
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate complexity into clear insight
  • A proactive, self-starting approach combined with collaborative working
  • Experience in financial services, credit sectors, or related policy areas is not essential, but an understanding of the key issues and regulatory landscape would be advantageous
  • Experience working with media or confidence in public speaking and representation
