Pay Supplement: The base salary for this role is ÂŁ46,677-ÂŁ54,957. This job qualifies for Digital, Data and Technology Annual Pay supplement 16% which is included in the total remuneration above.
Pension: 28.97% of base salary (RoS contribution)
Annual Leave: 38 days annual holiday, increasing to 42 days with length of service.
Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: 35 hours per week. We are a flexible employer and will consider a variety of working patterns.

The Role
Content designers make information easier for people to understand and use. As a Senior Content Designer, youâll be embedded in one of our in-house, full-stack teams. Youâll lead content strategy, design seamless user journeys, and turn complex policy into clear, accessible information across digital and offline channels. Youâll also mentor colleagues, set standards, and contribute to a thriving content design community.
In this role, you will:
- make sure appropriate content is shown to a user in the right place and in the best format
- start from discovery and work closely with user experience researchers, interaction designers, service designers, subject matter experts and Policy colleagues

On a typical day you willâŚ
- Lead the delivery and continual improvement of content design for the ros.gov.uk website, ensuring that it is fit for purpose and meets the needs of the business, our customers, and our stakeholders.
- Use agile development methodologies to work across all departments, identifying opportunities or business-critical developments that add value and enhance the customer experience.
- Use evidence, data and research to make content decisions, maintain a content governance process, and champion user-centred design practices, raising the profile of Content Design within RoS.
- Lead the Content Design Community of Practice to introduce new ideas and processes which can be practically used for the benefit of the whole organisation.
- Support with the creation of a skills model and learning pathway for Content Design roles.
