Head coaching responsibilities include management of all facets of the Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field Programs including, but not limited to: coaching/teaching, recruiting, budget management, administration, scheduling of competitions, team travel, weekly practice sessions, hiring and supervision of assistant coaches/interns, community service, student development, and compliance with NCAA, conference and college rules and regulations. Additional outdoor track & field facility oversight responsibilities are included as assigned by the administrative team of the Department of Athletics. This is a full-time, 10-month position.
Essential Functions
- Develop a program of athlete recruitment commensurate with the aims and goals of Regis College and appropriate for a member of the NCAA, Division III.
- Plan and coordinate training and meet preparation for intercollegiate competition.
- Determine policies and procedures for team selection and athlete participation.
- Make recommendations about event participation and budget for the team.
- Track the academic progress of the program’s student-athletes and provide appropriate advice and assistance to help ensure the successful completion of each athlete’s stated program of study.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to raise funds necessary to offset expenses associated for non-budgeted expenses and training trips.
- Organize community service projects for the program’s student-athletes to complete per the mission of the NCAA, the Regis Athletic Department and Regis College.
- Evaluate meet officials as required.
- Coordinate off-site practice venues (indoor track and field).
- Oversee and coordinate track & field facility/materials use for home meets, as well as for outside entities.
- Evidence a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations governing competition at the collegiate level and adhere to the rules and standards established by Regis College, the Great Northeast Athletics Conference and the NCAA (Division III).
- Participate in Department of Athletics staff meetings or functions and complete other duties as assigned by the Dean of Athletics.
Supervisory Responsibility
Select, supervise and evaluate graduate interns and all support staff for the Cross-Country and Track & Field Programs.
Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and computer literacy required, including familiarity with EMR software.
- Appropriate certifications in First Aid/CPR and AED are required within an appropriate time of hire and must be completed (per NCAA regulations) before the beginning of the competitive season.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills to work with various college constituencies.
- Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule.
- Ability to work well as a team member or independently.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail, problem solving and follow-through to consistently meet expectations and deadlines.
- Strong management skills and mentoring ability for interns and assistants.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to lift in excess of 40 lbs. and requires working on nights and weekends. Normal office environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc. May spend extended periods at terminal, on telephone, or operating other office machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
