Summary

The Department of Humanities at Regis College seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach the course AH-201, Introduction to Art History. This course fulfills an Expressive Arts core requirement, and is also an important class for students minoring in art. The course is conducted face-to-face in the Fine Arts Center of the Regis College Weston Campus.

Course Description

This introductory course is a survey of the relationships between painting, sculpture, and architecture and the societies that produced them from across time and across the globe.

Instructor has the freedom to construct a syllabus and decide on course content in consultation with department Chair.

This course will run on Thursdays, 4:00-7:00pm.

Essential Functions

  • Teaching AH-201
  • Ensuring appropriate curriculum design, implementation, and assessment of the course
  • Provide timely feedback to students and hold office hours at least 2 hours/week (this can be done via Zoom)
  • Please Note: Adjunct instructors are NOT expected to attend school or department meetings (though they are welcome to), conduct academic advising, or serve on standing committees.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • An advanced degree (PhD preferred but not required) in a discipline related to visual art
  • At least two years teaching experience
  • References upon request
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with a diverse group of co-workers and students while upholding the College’s commitment to inclusive excellence.
  • Carry out functions as they may be appropriate for the position.

  • Normal classroom environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.
