  • THR 218 – Facilitation Techniques for Adults . This course provides students with hands-on participation in facilitation techniques relevant to therapeutic recreation. Several types of therapeutic interventions appropriate for adults and older adults will be presented. Students will gain introductory knowledge and skills necessary for each modality, apply the interventions to specific case studies, and lead peer groups in utilizing the specific modalities for therapeutic purposes.

The Department of Health and Fitness Studies at Regis College is seeking Adjunct Lecturers for the Fall 2025 semester to teach various therapeutic recreation courses.

  • THR 218 – Facilitation Techniques for Adults . This course provides students with hands-on participation in facilitation techniques relevant to therapeutic recreation. Several types of therapeutic interventions appropriate for adults and older adults will be presented. Students will gain introductory knowledge and skills necessary for each modality, apply the interventions to specific case studies, and lead peer groups in utilizing the specific modalities for therapeutic purposes.

It is a 15-week course that begins on September 2 nd and runs through the fall semester. The course is taught IN PERSON on the Weston campus. The course outline and textbook are available for the instructor, as well as previous Moodle course materials.

  • THR 303 – Management in Therapeutic Recreation Services . This course will provide students with the principals, methods, and techniques for management and administration of therapeutic recreation programs. Students will gain knowledge regarding facility and resource management; public relations; personnel hiring, training, and management; grant writing; effective leadership techniques; and problem-solving.

It is a 15-week course that begins on September 2 nd and runs through the fall semester. The course may be taught in person or synchronously online. The course outline and textbook are available for the instructor, as well as previous Moodle course materials.

Responsibilities

  • Teach THR 218 Facilitation Techniques for Adults (lecture) as an IN PERSON course and/or THR 303 Management in Therapeutic Recreation Services as an in person or online synchronous course.
  • Engage with all responsibilities associated with teaching: content preparation, grading, office hours, student engagement, academic assessment, etc.
  • Meet with Interim Dean periodically to discuss content, student progress, challenges, etc.

Qualifications

Qualified Candidates Must Possess

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation/Recreation Therapy.
  • Maintain a valid Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential.
  • Past experience and expertise implementing recreation therapy facilitation techniques and interventions with adults. (THR 218)
  • Past experience managing TR services (THR 303)
  • Evidence of prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level preferred
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom learning environment in keeping with the University\’s commitment to inclusive excellence in a diverse educational community.
  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty
  • Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching including but not limited to: Office 365, Moodle, library and other online resources

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform all duties necessary for classroom instruction
  • Ability to provide experiential learning opportunities for student to learn and implement recreational therapy facilitation techniques and interventions.
  • Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching, grading and communication with students
