The Regional Studies Association (RSA) seeks to appoint a Digital Media Editor to its journal Regional Studies, Regional Science. The successful candidate will join the existing team of Editors dedicated to enhancing the journal's reputation as a world‐leading publication in the field of regional studies and regional science, ensuring that it is positioned to attract the best authors and papers for its readership.
The Digital Media Editor will be responsible for managing the journal's social media presence, with assistance from the RSA, and creating a strategy to best disseminate journal content and engage with readers and followers about the journal and trends in the field. They may also be asked to manage peer review for a small number of submissions to the journal and make recommendations to the Editor‐in‐Chief on their suitability for publication.
The post is for commencement by 1st of July 2026.
- Experience with academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
- Actively involved in growing and developing academic networks and experience of networking through social media.
- Ability to maintain the journal's existing social media accounts and further grow the journal's online presence over time by driving traffic to journal content and engaging with readers and followers of the journal.
- Ability to further develop the journal's presence on social media by developing a vision and strategy, including adding a presence in social media where RSRS is currently not present, and those where it is present but inactive.
- A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.
- The capacity to devote time each week to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
- The ability to ensure all submitted manuscripts are considered in a prompt, consistent and professional manner.
- The ability to confidently use an online peer review management system or to learn.
- The ability to select appropriate independent reviewers, provide authors with constructive feedback based on the reviews received and make recommendations to the Editor‐in‐Chief.
- A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
