Position Overview: To create and maintain a secure and stable infrastructure system for staff and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installation of all server operating systems and support.
  • Performs hands-on installation, maintenance and support of servers and operating systems used.
  • Installs and relocates hardware and software for servers and network operating systems, including assembly, configuration and transport, in accordance with established procedures, standards and instructions.
  • Performs periodic preventive maintenance and retirement of equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
  • Monitors and responds to potential issues with network operating systems, servers and network storage.
  • Responsible for logging and responding to server and operating system related incidents.
  • Provides support of e-mail systems and email archive.
  • Disables email, powerschool and prox card to terminating employees.
  • May work with contractor and vendors for repair of server software and hardware.
  • Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments.
  • IT Support- Student, Staff, Business Office operations and Support Service School Committee Video recordings on rotating basis.
  • Maintains district-wide Wide Area Network, Local Area Networks, Wireless Networks, Internet Connectivity.
  • Project lead for other District IT systems projects.
  • Erate reimbursement.
  • District communications systems, ie, VoIP phone systems, Paging systems.
  • District building access control systems and other emergency systems such as school Panic Buttons.
  • Oversees district cell phone account, supports, procures, and de-activates cell phones as needed.
  • Oversees district printers/copiers and maintenance agreement.
  • Oversees billing for WAN systems & Telephone circuits.
  • Maintains local and "air gap" backups for critical systems.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
  • On-call emergency support.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; and tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Technology.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Non Affiliated Salaried Position (260 days).

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Technology Director.
