Job Summary We are looking for an experienced and reliable HGV Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and maintenance of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring that all vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, and operationally efficient. This is a hands-on role suited to a technician with a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical vehicle systems, who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and maintaining high safety standards. The role will involve working with a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicle systems, supporting the smooth and efficient running of our fleet. Working hours will vary between 8 and 12 hours per day, depending on operational requirements, with some Saturday working required. Travel to our Banbury site may also be required from time to time to provide holiday cover. Duties & Responsibilities * Carry out PMI inspections and ensure vehicles meet required safety and compliance standards. * Complete routine inspections, fault finding, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on HGVs. * Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. * Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce vehicle downtime and improve fleet reliability. * Undertake fabrication, welding, soldering, assembly, and modification work where required. * Carry out brake testing and associated brake system maintenance. * Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, servicing, and parts used. * Assist with the repair and maintenance of workshop equipment and other operational machinery. * Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and industry standards. * Identify potential faults or maintenance issues and report them appropriately. * Work efficiently and safely while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. * Provide holiday cover at the Banbury site when required, including travel to and from the location. Experience & Skills * Previous experience working as an HGV Technician, LGV Technician, or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance position. * Strong electrical knowledge and practical experience, alongside good mechanical skills. * Experience with vehicle diagnostics, repairs, servicing, and preventative maintenance. * Knowledge of HGV systems including brakes, transmissions, engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems is highly desirable. * Experience in welding, fabrication, assembly, or general equipment maintenance would be advantageous. * Ability to safely carry out manual handling and heavy lifting when required. * Fault finding This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician looking to join a professional and supportive maintenance team, with the opportunity to work across a varied fleet and contribute directly to maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, reliability, and performance.
