Regional Recruitment Services are recruiting on behalf of an industry‐leading global manufacturer for an Electrical Design Engineer Contractor to join their R&D Development Team based in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer with electrical expertise to work on innovative electrical systems from concept through to production. The role offers exposure to complex electrical systems, and the opportunity to work within a professional, forward‐thinking engineering environment.

The Role

  • Cradle–to–grave design involvement from initial kick–off meeting through to manufacturing stage
  • Design of electrical busbar systems (LV & HV)
  • Design of high and low power systems
  • Design of enclosures including sheet metal and plastic components
  • Work on environmental control systems for domestic and commercial premises
  • Produce 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies (Solid Edge used on site training provided)
  • Apply Design for Excellence (DfX) principles
  • Perform calculations for current carrying capacity, thermal dissipation, and short‐circuit performance
  • Ensure designs comply with IEC and British Standards (including IEC 61439 and IEC 62208)

Requirements

  • Experience in electrical design engineering
  • Cradle‐to‐grave design experience
  • Experience working on LV & HV systems
  • Strong understanding of DfX methodologies
  • Experience with system integration and device design
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and enclosure design
  • Understanding of thermal dissipation and short‐circuit ratings
  • Knowledge of IEC and British Standards
  • CAD experience (Solid Edge preferred, but training provided other CAD backgrounds considered)
