The Regional Driving Assessment Centre (RDAC) is a UK registered charity dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, long term health conditions and accessibility needs by giving them freedom to move and maintain independence. RDAC provides specialist driving, access and mobility services across multiple centres nationwide, delivering assessments, adaptations, independent travel support, and tailored solutions rooted in care, dignity and innovation. We are seeking a friendly, forward thinking HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to join our assessment team. You will work closely with Driving Advisors and other professionals to deliver structured fitness to drive and vehicle access assessments that help clients with a range of disabilities and medical conditions retain or regain their driving independence. This role combines strong clinical reasoning with empathy, adaptability and a commitment to person centred practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver fitness to drive, vehicle access and adaptation assessments for clients with medical conditions and disabilities in line with RDAC’s Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work jointly with Driving Advisors as part of a multi disciplinary assessment team.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments for clients with physical, cognitive and complex presentations.
  • Identify clinical factors that may influence assessment outcomes and recommendations.
  • Produce clear, evidence based written reports in accordance with RDAC standards.
  • Liaise with external agencies including DVLA, medical professionals, case managers and adaptation specialists where appropriate.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing insight into clinical practice and client needs.
  • Maintain records, documentation and reporting in accordance with RDAC standards.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, accessibility and client care in all interactions.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Willingness to complete the Driving Mobility Academy training programme.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
  • Experience working with people with medical conditions or disabilities.
  • Experience or knowledge of vehicle adaptations for disability needs.
  • Previous assessment, advisory or specialist clinical experience.
  • Experience in paediatric services.
Training and Development

A full induction programme will be provided, together with ongoing supervision and professional development. Successful candidates will be supported to complete the Professional Certificate in Driving Assessment and Outdoor Mobility. This qualification is funded by RDAC and study time will be provided.

Contracted Hours and Flexibility

Full time: 37 hours per week. Part time: considered for flexible working arrangements. You will be contracted from RDAC Head Office, Solihull, have a named base, with some travel to RDAC satellite centres (Cannock, Leicester, Manchester, Northampton, Oxford, Wolverhampton, Worcester) to meet service needs.

Salary and Benefits
