We are looking for a highly versatile and proactive Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the upkeep, repair, and improvement of residential apartment blocks. This role requires someone confident across multiple trades—electrical, plumbing, joinery, basic decorating, fault‑finding, and general building maintenance. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, adaptable, and able to tackle a wide range of tasks with a positive, problem‑solving attitude. A full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- General Building Maintenance
- Carry out day‑to‑day repairs across communal areas, plant rooms, and external spaces.
- Diagnose issues across multiple trades and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Attend reactive maintenance jobs and prioritise tasks based on urgency.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential defects before they become major issues.
- Multi-Trade Tasks
- Electrical (within competency)
- Replace light fittings, sockets, switches, drivers, lamps, and fault‑find basic issues.
- Test emergency lighting and report defects.
- Plumbing
- Fix leaks, replace taps, repair toilet components, unblock drains, and address low‑level plumbing faults.
- Joinery/Carpentry
- Fit or repair doors, skirting, architraves, locks, handles, and general timber components.
- Carry out small carpentry tasks such as boxing‑in or building simple structures.
- General Works
- Patch plastering, basic painting and decorating, sealant replacement, and minor fabric repairs.
- Assist with basic grounds maintenance or external building tasks where needed.
- Electrical (within competency)
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety procedures and building regulations.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times, particularly in occupied residential buildings.
- Complete job sheets, risk assessments, and photographic records accurately.
- Report hazards, structural concerns, or compliance issues immediately.
- Customer Service & Communication
- Work professionally and respectfully in occupied buildings.
- Provide clear updates on job progress, next steps, and material requirements.
- Communicate effectively with residents, property managers, and contractors.
- Tools, Equipment & Vehicle
- Maintain all tools and equipment in good working order.
- Keep the company vehicle clean, compliant, and well‑stocked.
- Collect materials as needed and manage stock of commonly used items.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in multi‑trade maintenance or property maintenance roles.
- Competence across several of the following: plumbing, joinery, electrical, decorating, fault‑finding, general building fabric repairs.
- Strong practical problem‑solving ability.
- Able to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites.
- Good communication and customer‑facing skills.
- Full UK driving licence (required).
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ or City & Guilds in a relevant trade (maintenance, joinery, electrical, or plumbing).
- Basic electrical certification (advantageous).
- Health & Safety training (CSCS, Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, etc.).
- Experience within block management or property services environments.
