About the role

Join our Regional Build and Regional Civils team as Head Of Quality on our exciting projects. You will be part of a team delivering complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.

In this role you will lead the Quality function for two Business Units within UK Construction Services, incorporating the Balfour Beatty Quality Strategy and providing
functional leadership to the Business Units’ Quality resources.

What you’ll be doing

As Head of Quality you will:

  1. Ensure the BUs Quality reporting and improvement programmes align with the core BB Group and UK Quality requirements.
  2. Actively participate in Quality Community of Practice and UK-wide quality
    improvement initiatives in support of maintaining industry leading Quality
    processes.
  3. Monitor and report business performance relating to agreed Quality KPIs and
    Metrics and agree (and monitor) management actions to drive performance
    improvements.
  4. Ensure quality investigations and effective root cause analysis are undertaken.
  5. Represent the business in client, designer and other Stakeholder Quality interfaces.
  6. Challenge systems and processes to ensure best practice and continual
    improvement.
  7. Undertake regular executive quality visits to projects.
  8. Assist with coordination of initiatives such as World Quality Week and
    engagement surveys.
  9. Manage quality-related inspections & audits across the BUs and assist with
    coordination of group internal or external ISO audits to ensure the BUs are able to operate in their chosen sectors.
  10. Review and contribute to supply chain procurement decisions with a focus on
    quality and assist with supply chain quality process improvements as necessary.

Who we’re looking for

You will have the following:

  1. Previous experience in Construction / Engineering / Quality role.
  2. Level 4+ Qualification in Quality or Construction.
  3. Previous experience of managing a team or a leadership role.
  4. Experience of developing and implementing management systems in highly
    regulated environments.
  5. Working knowledge of management system standards covering Health and
    Safety, Risk Management, Collaborative working, Business Continuity and Quality.

Desirable Skills:

  1. A formal qualification in Quality Management e.g. Diploma in Quality Management
    (UK Chartered Quality Institute, British Standards Institute or equivalent).
  2. Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body.
  3. Trained ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and/or Internal Audit.
