Job Overview:
We are seeking reliable and vigilant Exam Invigilators to oversee and maintain order during academic examinations. The ideal candidate will ensure that all exams are conducted fairly and in accordance with established guidelines and regulations. Exam Invigilators play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of the examination process and creating a conducive environment for students to perform their best.
This role is irregular in nature, with busier exam periods followed by quieter times. Flexibility and availability during peak exam seasons are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and setup: Assist in the preparation and arrangement of exam venues, including distributing examination papers, stationery, and other necessary materials.
- Adherence to procedures: Ensure strict compliance with examination procedures and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity throughout the examination process.
- Supervision and monitoring: Oversee students during exams, ensuring they adhere to rules, maintain silence, and refrain from any form of academic dishonesty.
- Assistance to students: Provide guidance on procedural queries while maintaining impartiality.
- Conflict resolution: Handle any disturbances or irregularities that may arise, following established protocols with professionalism.
- Timekeeping: Monitor the allocated time for exams, providing time reminders to students.

Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification required; higher education preferred.
- Previous experience in exam invigilation or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain focused for extended periods.
- Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to upholding academic standards.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
- Basic technical skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Teams, is desired.
Working Conditions and Availability:
Exam invigilation involves working in a focused, quiet environment where attention to detail and adherence to procedures are essential. Invigilators may be on their feet or moving around the exam room for parts of the shift, but opportunities to sit are available depending on the venue and task.
Shifts are allocated based on exam schedules, which vary throughout the academic year. During peak exam periods, more shifts are typically available, while quieter times may offer fewer opportunities. Flexibility and availability during busier periods are especially important.
Location:
- Candidates must be available to work across all RCL campuses, including Southall, Wembley, and Kingsbury. While we have multiple campuses across London, we are particularly looking for invigilators who can commit to these locations, rather than just central areas. Access to transportation or a willingness to commute is essential.
