Salary: Up to a maximum of 42k per annum

Reports to: Head of English/Programme Leader

Hours of work: Your required hours are 40 hours per week. The business operation hours are Mon-Thu, 9am-9pm, and Fri-Sun, 9am-6pm.

Start Date: We are interviewing for this role and are looking for academic staff who can join the team either on 11th August 2025 or 1st September 2025, subject to a successful interview.

Location: Must be flexible to work across all campuses: Holborn, Great Titchfield Street, Wembley, Kingsbury, and Southall.

Overall purpose: The role of English Tutor requires designing, developing, and delivering learning and teaching material across modules or within a subject area. The role will be hybrid (face-to-face or online) and involves ensuring student engagement, achievement of learning outcomes, and a high-quality student experience. English tutors are vital to student success, aiming to maximize students’ proficiency in English language and English for Academic Purposes.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: The post holder will:
  • Teach a set number of sessions weekly, including lectures, seminars, and tutorials.
  • Maintain attendance registers and work with the attendance team to ensure accuracy.
  • Deliver/facilitate sessions aligned with approved programme and module specifications.
  • Work with Regent Digital provisions, including VLEs and MS Teams.
  • Ensure student engagement during sessions.
  • Develop and update teaching materials and class notes, ensuring the VLE is current.
  • Suggest improvements to enhance the student academic experience.
  • Assessment and Marking: The post holder will:
    • Support assessment production and ensure approval through relevant procedures.
    • Participate in standardization meetings.
    • Provide formative feedback to students.
    • Mark assessments and provide timely feedback within deadlines.
    • Identify and escalate potential academic misconduct cases.
  • Student support: The post holder will:
    • Address student engagement or performance issues and refer students to college services as needed.
    • Handle pastoral requirements and monitor Learning Support Plans in collaboration with specialists.
  • Quality assurance: The post holder will:
    • Provide module evaluation reports.
    • Contribute to programme evaluations and engage in Programme Committee meetings.
    • Participate in quality assurance frameworks and reflect on student feedback for improvements.
    • Contribute to accreditation and quality control processes.
  • Scholarship and professional development: The post holder will:
    • Engage in scholarship to support teaching and stay updated.
    • Apply scholarship knowledge to teaching and external activities.
    • Disseminate and apply research findings.
  • Managing work and resources: The post holder will:
    • Coordinate with faculty to meet student needs.
    • Manage projects and extracurricular activities.
    • Mentor colleagues and advise on development.
    • Propose content or structural module improvements.
    • Design and deliver modules and assessments responsibly.
    • Collaborate on assessment procedures and address delivery issues within their scope.
