The Faculty Manager is a key post holder in the university’s academic management structure. The role supports faculty performance and management across all schools and contributes to the smooth running of all programmes, enhancing the student experience and staff satisfaction. The Faculty Manager will work with multiple stakeholders to support faculty recruitment, onboarding and training, faculty development and performance, HR compliance, partner and regulatory compliance, resourcing efficiency and learning and teaching excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise, develop and coordinate a comprehensive onboarding programme for permanent, fixed term and associate lecturers.
  • Review and screen CVs and hold recruitment days for faculty candidates.
  • Ensure each new Lecturer / Associate Lecturer is aware of and adheres to college policies and procedures; address policy breaches with stakeholders as they arise.
  • Manage workload planning across the academic year, ensuring staff with appropriate skills deliver teaching, marking and other activities.
  • Support faculty to organise annual leave to minimise operational disruption and protect student experience and teaching continuity.
  • Work with stakeholders to support the smooth running of programmes and academic delivery.
  • Monitor that faculty meet KPIs including deadlines, marking standards, attendance at standardisation meetings, module feedback collection and other tasks.
  • Hold regular 1:1 meetings with faculty to support development, address feedback and understand staff voice for potential enhancements.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to conduct review, probation and appraisal meetings supporting faculty development and performance.
  • Support staff development across Digital Teaching and Learning, Academic Support, Advance HE, L&T, Digital Literacy and other areas.
  • Provide communication, guidance and support to all staff, working with senior leadership, Schools, Operations and HR to ensure staff voice is heard and supported.
  • Ensure feedback from observations, student surveys, module feedback and other mechanisms is communicated to relevant faculty.
  • Investigate and address complaints regarding faculty conduct, non‑compliance or breaches of rules, regulations, policy or performance issues, working with HR.
  • Provide support to faculty to ensure a positive academic student experience meeting B1, B2 and B4 registration conditions.

  • Experience of management, development and training in an HE context.
  • Experience working in a regulated sector with compliance and monitoring requirements.
