The Role
You will lead the design team and development of a new modular wind turbine, taking it from early concepts through detailed design, build, and physical testing. You will work across the full engineering lifecycle — modelling, component design, virtual testing like CFD/FEA, assembly, integration, testing, and iteration. The role will need real engineering decisions under real-world constraints.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the engineering
- Own the overall technical design of the wind turbine system
- Set system architecture, requirements, and interfaces
- Make pragmatic trade-offs across performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability
- Build and test real hardware
- Lead hands-on design, prototyping, testing, and iteration
- Certification and safety
- Lead safety engineering, FMEA, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g. IEC 61400)
- Work directly with certification bodies and regulators
- Lead an engineering team
- Mentor and guide a small, practical engineering team
- Set a culture of ownership, curiosity, and hands-on problem solving
- Support the business
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Contribute to cost modelling, scalability, and investor discussions
Experience
- Minimum 2 years
- Software skill CAD modelling software
- MATLAB, Python or equivalent
- Familiarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis and Electronic Simulation software

- Understanding of electro-mechanical, and aero-elastic systems
- Hands-on problem solver: comfortable building, testing, modifying, and fixing hardware
- Good intuition for tolerances, fits, wear, and failure modes

- Bias for simple, robust solutions that work outside the lab
- Makes decisions with incomplete data and improves designs through testing
