As we continue to develop our clinical reporting capabilities, we're looking for a Biomarkers Research Scientist to join our team in Edinburgh.

This is an opportunity for an experienced researcher to work at the point where scientific evidence meets practical healthcare .

You'll lead the research pipeline for identifying, evaluating and validating functional markers and the recommendations associated with them - ensuring that what we include in our clinical reports is scientifically robust, appropriately evidenced and genuinely useful to healthcare practitioners.

What you'll be doing

What does the evidence actually support?

You'll investigate the scientific literature behind functional markers and potential recommendations, critically evaluating the strength and quality of the evidence before translating your findings into clear, clinically accurate and actionable content.

You'll

• Research and validate links between functional markers and specific genetic outcomes, working closely with our Genomics Research Scientist.
• Research and develop evidence-based recommendations relating to lifestyle, diet, supplements and general wellness.
• Critically appraise published research, distinguishing between observational and interventional evidence and weighting recommendations accordingly.
• Build and maintain a clear, auditable evidence trail behind recommendation rules.
• Translate complex scientific literature into clear, accessible guidance for healthcare practitioners without losing important scientific nuance.
• Independently manage research and recommendation-development projects from initial evidence gathering through to sign-off and publication.
• Review existing recommendations as the evidence base develops, identifying where current guidance may be under-evidenced, contradicted or require updating.
• Help ensure consistency in evidence standards, safety language and DISCLAIMERS across our recommendation library.
• Work closely with our Medical Director and Clinical Education team where evidence or recommendations move into more sensitive clinical territory.
• Contribute to the frameworks that will enable evidence-based recommendations to scale across future Regenerus reports.

What we're looking for

You'll be someone who is genuinely comfortable interrogating scientific evidence rather than simply summarising it .

You'll understand research design and evidence hierarchies and be able to critically evaluate RCTs, cohort studies and meta-analyses - including judging study quality, effect sizes, statistical significance and, crucially, whether the findings justify a practical recommendation.

You'll have

• An MSc in nutrition, dietetics, nutritional therapy, physiology, public health or a related discipline . A Ph D would be welcomed but isn't essential.
• Strong critical appraisal skills and a sound understanding of evidence hierarchies.
• Sufficient biostatistical literacy to evaluate study quality and interpret findings appropriately.
• Practical familiarity with functional testing - either through working with functional test panels commercially or through ordering and interpreting them in clinical practice.
• Experience independently managing a research or content-development pipeline.
• Excellent scientific and plain-language writing skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly where evidence, safety and wording have clinical implications.

Experience producing clinical guidance for healthcare practitioners would be particularly valuable.

Knowledge of drug-nutrient interaction literature, experience within personalised medicine, DTC health testing or health tech, or registration as a dietitian or nutritionist would also be an advantage.
