About the Role
We are seeking a high-calibre Divisional Gas/Compliance Manager to oversee the safe, compliant delivery of gas and statutory compliance works across our maintenance service streams. In this pivotal role, you will act as the technical authority and Gas Duty Holder for the division. While domestic gas is your primary discipline, you will also bring solid mechanical knowledge—encompassing water hygiene (Legionella), plumbing, and a high-level awareness of F-Gas/heat pump systems. Furthermore, while commercial qualifications are not a prerequisite, you must possess a sharp understanding of commercial gas systems and commercial PPM compliance management. This is a fantastic opportunity for a compliance-driven leader who values integrity, thrives on setting high standards, and is looking to actively grow gas-related business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Gas & Mechanical Oversight
- Gas Duty Holder: Act as the designated technical authority, verifying gas works and ensuring absolute alignment with current statutory regulations.
- Safety & Best Practice: Own and update the Gas MMS and RAMS, ensuring strict adherence by both in-house trades and subcontractors.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical advice on gas issues, audit gas works, and approve gas subcontractors.
- Broad Mechanical Compliance: Oversee water hygiene (Legionella) management, plumbing systems, and maintain compliance oversight for F-Gas, air conditioning, and heat pump systems.
- PPM Compliance Leadership
- Program Management: Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programs are tailored perfectly to estate conditions and asset usage to reduce breakdowns.
- Standards & Benchmarking: Establish strict standards for PPM tasks, method statements, and competency requirements using SFG20 as your baseline.
- Auditing & Certification: Conduct field and documentation audits to guarantee PPMs are executed safely, on time, and that compliance certification remains perfectly up to date.
- Remedial & Subcontractor Management: Challenge subcontractors and trades to ensure proportionate remedial actions are quoted, agreed, and executed swiftly; handle the re-procurement of PPM subcontractor packages.
- Stakeholder & Safety Culture
- Forge strong relationships with Client Technical Representatives. Champion a rigorous Health and Safety culture through documented observations and proactive trend analysis.
Candidate Profile: Qualifications & Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Technical Qualifications: Current ACS qualification (or recently held) including CCN1, CENTWAT, HTR1, CKR1.
- Accreditations: Gas Safe Accreditation, Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) accreditation, and IOSH Managing Safely.
- Industry Experience: Proven track record within a building maintenance environment, with demonstrably successful experience delivering PPM compliance across a varied estate.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
- Practical Background: Strong diagnostic and central heating installation experience, with a solid grasp of materials and construction methods used in social housing.
- Mobility: Full UK driving licence and a willingness to travel across regional sites (primarily Isle of Wight and Horsham).
Desirable Criteria:
- Degree, Diploma, or HNC in an engineering discipline.
- Membership (or working towards chartership) of a relevant professional technical body.
