Regan Veterinary Group at Holly House in Wigan, Greater Manchester, is on the lookout for a Veterinary Surgeon. We offer a competitive salary of up to £75k, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Enjoy a healthy work-life balance with a 4-day work week, 1 in 4 Saturdays, and no out-of-hours commitments. This is a permanent, full-time role ideal for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon looking for their next challenge, a role that would suit a GP Vet or someone interested in medicine to work alongside an advanced practitioner surgeon and an ophthalmology cert holder.

You’ll join a well-established, community-rooted practice with strong leadership and clear growth plans. Our experienced management team, including Advanced Practitioners in Ophthalmology and Surgery, will fully support you. You’ll work alongside 5 senior vets and over 20 vets across 6 sites, with multiple certificate holders managing both first-opinion and internal referral cases. We run first-opinion clinics as well as Advanced Practitioner-led referral services, supported by a multidisciplinary team covering surgery, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, and medicine.

We’re a high-end first-opinion practice looking for someone committed to thorough case workups, building lasting client relationships, and communicating clearly. We expect evidence-based decision-making balanced with a pragmatic approach, especially where financial considerations arise.

Why us? We hold regular quality improvement meetings to encourage case discussion, and we’ve submitted work to the RCVS QI awards on informed consent and improving outcomes in ‘sore eye’ cases. Our leadership team promotes open, honest communication, with regular 1-to-1s for all staff. We’ve built a culture where everyone feels heard, mistakes are owned and learned from, and a genuine “no blame” approach supports team growth. You’ll always have our support. We recognise the emotional demands of the profession and proactively prioritise wellbeing. Alongside an excellent employee assistance programme, we have trained mental health first aiders onsite and encourage open conversations about mental health.

Our equipment includes all the expected tools plus laparoscopy, an operating microscope, and advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue, and ophthalmology kit. If a team member wants to add new equipment, we help with the research and, if viable, support installation, training, and promotion.

Salary and hours: You will work a 4-day week with a 1 in 4-weekend rota and no OOH's. We can also discuss part-time ways of working. We are happy to discuss welcome and joining bonuses. Salary is up to £75k, dependent on experience. We are open to discussing higher salaries for Advanced Practitioners.

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes: Vet Oracle, our support platform for veterinary colleagues that provides expert advice and support across a range of clinical areas, buy and sell holiday scheme, paid professional fees, CPD allowance, discounted treatments and products for your pets, and many more!

To apply: To arrange an informal and confidential chat, or to visit the practice to meet with the team, please contact Dave at david.vaughan@cvsvets.com. Alternatively, to submit an online application please click Apply Now, upload your CV and we’ll be in touch.
