We are looking for an organised and detail‑oriented Accounts & Payroll Assistant to join Regal Precision Engineers (Colne) Ltd on a part‑time basis. The successful candidate will have hands‑on experience with Sage Line 50 accounts software; additional training will be offered if required and the role will play a key part in supporting the day‑to‑day financial operations of the business. Full training will be provided on payroll processes for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts
- Processing and posting purchase and sales invoices using Sage Line 50
- Bank reconciliation and posting of bank transactions
- Credit control: monitoring debtor accounts and following up outstanding payments
- Supplier statement reconciliations and handling supplier queries
- Preparing and processing BACS payment runs
- Monthly reconciliation of control accounts
- Assisting with month‑end and year‑end accounts preparation
- Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records
- Payroll
- Processing payroll weekly for approximately 36 employees using Sage Payroll (training provided)
- Submitting Real Time Information (RTI) returns to HMRC
- Administering statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) and deductions
- Managing auto‑enrolment pension contributions and submissions
- Producing and distributing payslips
- Maintaining employee payroll records and ensuring compliance with legislation
- General
- Providing general administrative support to the Finance/Sales Team
- Liaising with external accountants and auditors as required
- Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee data
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience working with Sage Line 50 accounts software
- Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping and double‑entry accounting
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative
- Professional approach with strong communication skills
- Discretion in handling confidential information
Desirable
- Experience of Sage Payroll (training will be provided for the right candidate)
- Relevant experience 3 Yrs+
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Familiarity with auto‑enrolment pension administration
