We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded HGV Vehicle Repair & Refurbishment Estimator to join our team.

Our business specialises in refuse collection vehicles, and the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing vehicles, identifying repair and refurbishment requirements, and producing accurate, competitive estimates for the work required.

This is a hands-on and varied role, working with a range of specialist refuse collection vehicles and associated equipment.

You will need to be able to understand vehicle damage and mechanical requirements, identify the parts and labour needed, and turn this information into clear and accurate quotations.

The role would suit someone with experience in commercial vehicle repairs, bodywork, accident damage, vehicle refurbishment, fleet maintenance or estimating who is looking for a position where their knowledge and judgement can make a real difference.

Key responsibilities Inspecting refuse collection vehicles and assessing their condition and repair requirements.

Producing accurate estimates and quotations for vehicle repairs, accident damage and refurbishment projects.

Identifying required parts, materials, labour and specialist services.

Estimating labour hours and associated costs accurately.

Liaising with technicians, mechanics, bodyshop staff and suppliers to establish repair requirements.

Obtaining and comparing parts and subcontractor costs where required.

Preparing clear and professional estimates for customers and internal use.

Reviewing additional repair requirements and updating estimates as work progresses.

Helping to identify opportunities to repair, refurbish or replace components in the most commercially appropriate way.

Maintaining accurate records of estimates and repair work.

Communicating with customers regarding estimates, repair requirements and timescales.

Working closely with the workshop and management team to ensure estimates accurately reflect the work required.

Ensuring estimates are commercially viable while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.

We are looking for someone who is: Experienced in estimating vehicle repairs, preferably commercial vehicles, HGVs, refuse vehicles or specialist vehicles.

Able to confidently assess vehicle damage and determine the work required.

Comfortable interpreting workshop findings and translating them into accurate estimates.

Commercially aware, with a good understanding of labour, parts and material costs.

Highly organised and able to manage multiple estimates at different stages.

Detail-oriented, with a strong eye for identifying additional work and potential issues.

Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and workshop staff.

Comfortable using computerised estimating systems and Microsoft Office.

Able to work independently while also being an effective member of a busy workshop team.

Practical and solutions-focused, with good mechanical and/or bodywork knowledge.
