Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA)
Location: Hybrid with a requirement to work regularly from a range of locations within Wandsworth and occasionally from Refuge’s Head Office (Vauxhall).
Salary: £29,701.36 per annum.
Contract type: Full-time, Permanent.
Hours: 37.5.
Responsibilities
The IDVA will provide high quality, trauma‑informed independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic abuse, and additionally face multiple disadvantages in accessing support services across Wandsworth.
Focused on improving access to justice, safety, and holistic support for individuals affected by domestic abuse, including those navigating the criminal justice system, this role focuses on:
- Offering independent advocacy and support to clients, ensuring a needs‑led approach.
- Managing risk effectively and maintaining client safety.
- Supporting clients with a variety of support needs, often under pressure.
- Collaborating with the Enhanced Support Outreach Team and multi‑agency partners.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on survivors and their children.
- Ability to work under pressure and effectively manage risk.
- Commitment to trauma‑informed practice and a passion for the work Refuge undertakes.
- Experience in providing advocacy or support to survivors of domestic abuse is desirable.
