Are you a commercially astute professional with a passion for driving financial performance across complex M&E projects? We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Commercial Manager to take ownership of a diverse project portfolio worth around £15 million annually, overseeing all contractual and financial aspects from pre-construction through to final account.

The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s commercial interests while supporting project delivery teams. From reviewing contracts and managing cost control to negotiating final accounts, you will ensure every project is delivered profitably, compliantly, and to the highest commercial standards. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers and Directors to provide strategic input, accurate financial reporting, and expert contractual guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full financial control of M&E projects from order through to completion.
- Review client contracts and subcontracts, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Prepare and submit monthly valuations, variations, and cost reports.
- Administer contracts under NEC, JCT, or bespoke forms.
- Draft and manage subcontractor agreements and assess applications for payment.
- Produce accurate forecasts, cash flow analyses, and final accounts.
- Support procurement activities to ensure best value and compliance.
- Mentor junior commercial staff and promote a culture of accountability and commercial awareness.
About You
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial management or senior QS role within M&E contracting.
- Proven experience managing the full commercial lifecycle of mechanical and electrical projects.
- Strong understanding of NEC, JCT, and bespoke contract forms.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and financial reporting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems (e.g., Simpro or similar).
- CSCS card and full UK driving licence preferred.
