We are seeking a dedicated and committed Deputy Manager to join our Nursery team in Surbiton. You will be providing exceptional care and early childhood education to all the children in our nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children aged 0-5 years old, be used to leading a team of nursery practitioners, room leaders, and team leaders to ensure the safety, development, and well-being of the children in the nursery is the priority at all times. The role would suit someone who has previously worked as a Room Leader or Third in charge and is looking for the next step up or is currently working as a Deputy Manager at a setting. The role will also involve stepping in for the nursery manager in their absence. You will need a Level 3 or above qualification in early years for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of nursery staff to ensure the highest standards of education and care are at the forefront of everything you do and all children receive a stimulating experience appropriate for their age and stage of development.
  • Work with higher management to ensure the nursery is running in the best way it can and share common goals of any improvement.
  • Maintain a stimulating environment for the children in the nursery setting.
  • Make sure all compliance and legal ratios are met at all times.
  • Motivating and monitoring the team to identify any additional training or support that may need to be given to staff.
  • Interviewing and inducting all new staff joining the setting.
  • Facilitate Ofsted inspection and any safeguarding matters.
  • Be responsible for all administration duties associated with the nursery.
  • Agree and deliver occupancy targets.
  • Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to ensure delivery of high-quality childcare practice.
  • Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly and professional relationships with parents and carers.

Person Spec:

  • Hold a level 3 qualification or above within early years.
  • Ideally have previous nursery management experience.
  • Have excellent knowledge of EYFS guidelines.
  • Hold 2 years’ experience of leading a team.
