We are looking to recruit a Humanities Teacher to join our School near Bridgwater, Somerset. This is an award-winning school with excellent OFSTED reports. We are looking for someone with experience in teaching students with complex needs.

The teacher will have the knowledge and skills to deliver lessons in Humanities:

  • Plan and deliver Humanities lessons.
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate Humanities lessons that develop pupils’ understanding of history, geography, and the wider world, while supporting their personal development and critical thinking skills.
  • Adapt teaching to individual needs by differentiating content, resources, and approaches to meet pupils’ EHCPs, cognitive levels, and communication needs.
  • Promote engagement and positive behaviour using therapeutic and trauma-informed strategies to support focus, resilience, and respectful discussion, enabling pupils to engage meaningfully with the curriculum.
  • Monitor and support pupil progress by assessing progress through observation, questioning, and discussion, using this to inform planning and identify next steps in learning.
  • Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students with support from teaching staff.
  • Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
  • Share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Qualifications required:

  • Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Degree in relevant subject area.
