Our client is a specialist education provider supporting children and young people with autism, social, emotional, and mental health needs. They are seeking a passionate and experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified therapist who is committed to helping young people overcome communication barriers, develop confidence, and achieve their full educational and personal potential.

Location: Poole

Hours: 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday – 42 weeks per year

Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist speech and language therapy assessments and interventions.
  • Manage a varied caseload of pupils with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Design and implement individual and group therapy programmes.
  • Lead and support Therapy Assistants in delivering bespoke intervention plans.
  • Provide advice and training to teaching staff on effective communication strategies.
  • Contribute to EHCP outcomes, annual reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate clinical records.
  • Develop communication targets that integrate into individual education plans.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, teachers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience working with children and young people with additional needs.
  • Knowledge of autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience working within specialist education settings.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support approaches.
  • Experience training school staff and supporting therapy assistants.
  • Experience developing and implementing therapeutic programmes for pupils with autism and learning disabilities.
