We’re expanding our team and now have four exciting Utilities Engineer opportunities available. You’ll take charge of keeping vital utility systems running smoothly, driving efficiency, and ensuring our production never misses a beat. Responsibilities

  • Managing External Contractors: Coordinate and supervise contractors on site, ensuring work is completed to the highest standards, on schedule, and within budget. Conduct inductions, monitor performance, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Risk Assessments and Legal Compliance: Carry out detailed risk assessments for all utilities operations and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, health & safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Plant Inspections and Checks: Conduct routine and ad-hoc plant checks, identify potential failures before they escalate, record findings and take corrective action to maintain uninterrupted site operations.
  • Asset Control and Management: Maintain accurate records of all utility assets, including condition monitoring, preventive maintenance schedules, and lifecycle management; keep spare parts inventory and asset registers up to date.
  • Energy Efficiency Initiatives: Identify and implement opportunities to reduce energy consumption, minimise waste, and optimise system performance.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies and unplanned events, providing technical expertise to resolve issues quickly while minimising impact on production.
  • First Response for Site Utilities: Act as the primary point of contact for all utility-related issues, ensuring rapid response to breakdowns or operational challenges to minimise downtime.
  • Steam and Condensate Systems: Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, condensate return systems, and related infrastructure for optimum performance.
  • High- and Low-Pressure Air Systems: Maintain high- and low-pressure air systems, ensuring reliability and energy efficiency across production processes.
  • Water Treatment and Distribution: Oversee water treatment processes, distribution systems, and associated chemical dosing to meet operational and quality standards.
  • Effluent Treatment and Disposal: Maintain effluent treatment plants to ensure environmental compliance and sustainable operations.
  • Legionella Control: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with legionella control regulations.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Hands-on maintenance experience, proactive in planned and reactive maintenance
  • Strong engineering knowledge, able to work safely and efficiently across a range of utility systems
  • Positive attitude and commitment, can-do mindset with pride in delivering high standards
  • Team-oriented and flexible, adaptable across departments and shifts
  • Relevant utilities experience (desirable): steam boiler, compressed air systems, effluent treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities

Work Schedule

4 on / 4 off days and nights

£62,000 p.a.
