Pastoral leadership with a team of elders. Preaching, teaching, counseling.
Position Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who is qualified to be an elder and who adheres to the doctrinal and theological convictions articulated in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. The candidate must have strengths in preaching and teaching, and abilities in pastoral care and oversight.
The candidate should be fully sympathetic with the ethos of the church, which includes features such as a family-oriented church of loving relationships, oversight by a plural eldership of equals, a ministry that connects with this generation and the local community, and an emphasis on evangelism. We seek a candidate who senses a calling specifically to this church.
We pray that the Lord will provide the right man at the right time. We are open to considering various transitional arrangements that are mutually suitable, allowing us to get to know each other well.
A less experienced candidate, such as someone in seminary or emerging from seminary without full-time pastoral experience, may value a 1-2 year overlap with the existing pastor starting in 2025 or 2026. This would provide an opportunity to gain experience in an established eldership without initially assuming full responsibility, and to foster mutual understanding.
A more experienced candidate with pastoral experience, whose circumstances allow for a move without disrupting another church, and whose availability aligns with our anticipated timeline of 2027, is also considered.
