Grace Hill Church is an Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) congregation in Hillsborough, NC, entering an exciting season of growth as we prepare for the construction of our new sanctuary. Our core vision is to Grow and Nourish the Family of Christ. We are seeking an energetic, relevant, and relational Director of Students and Outreach to step into this vision and build a vibrant youth ministry.
Vision for This Role
We are looking for a “galvanizer” leader who can cast a compelling vision and cultivate an energetic, welcoming youth group with a goal of growing our family of middle and high school students.
- Nurture the Family of Christ: You will develop the faith and spiritual maturity of our 6th through 12th graders by deepening their biblical knowledge and applying the Gospel to their daily lives. We place a high priority on equipping teenagers for their next season of life (college, career, and beyond), engaging them in apologetics, and stressing the importance of lifelong involvement in the local church and campus ministries.
- Grow the Family of Christ: You will serve as a missionary to the youth of the Hillsborough area. This means being highly accessible, genuinely interested in their lives, and actively engaging with students in local schools to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities
- Weekly Ministry: Lead weekly Student Sunday School (following worship) and provide an opportunity for students to gather outside of Sunday mornings at least once a week.
- Relational Discipleship: Be an active presence in the lives of the youth. Attend their school activities, sporting events, and theater productions to support them. Meet their friends and make them feel warmly welcomed into our church community.
- Accountability & Encouragement: Encourage consistent commitment from the youth. Hold students lovingly accountable for their presence at church, Sunday School, and youth events.
- Campus & Community Outreach: Maintain a strong presence in local schools (e.g., FCA, YoungLife). Organize and recruit for quarterly large-group outreach events.
- Family Partnership: Shepherd the students by walking alongside their parents, actively equipping and communicating with them as they disciple their children. Additionally, work with homeschool families to engage in outreach, service, and mercy ministries.
- Sunday Operations: Assist with logistical tasks on Sunday mornings in preparation for worship.
Position Qualifications
- Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrates high character, a clear profession of faith, and a humble desire to serve the Lord and His Church. Must have a history of obedience to the Lord for at least 3 years, with clear evidence of a commitment to Scripture reading, prayer, and service.
- Theological Alignment: Must possess a strong understanding of Scripture and the ability to effectively communicate Gospel truths. Must believe in the core tenets of our faith: salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone, as revealed in the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone.
- Teachable Spirit: Exhibits a humble willingness to be nurtured and guided by Grace Hill leadership.
- Relational Competence: Understands modern teenagers, the unique challenges they face, and has a natural ability to connect with middle and high school students.
- Communication: Possesses excellent communication skills, particularly with parents.
- Experience/Age Requirement: Must be at least 3 years removed from high school.
- Church Membership: Must meet the requirements for church membership (transfer of membership to Grace Hill is welcome but not strictly required if currently holding membership in another evangelical church).
