Role Overview

The role is to ensure the slitting machines are operating to maximum efficiency, ensuring that designs are slit within a target timeframe and to the customer specification.

To organise ancillary products/equipment to provide a well‑organised and safe place of work including WIP and finished goods ensuring materials are available as required for the next process (The Customer).

A clean environment is key to help maintain best practices.

  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Ensure health & safety requirements within the Conversion department are adhered to at all times.
  • To ensure that all Slitter operators are operating in a safe manner.
  • To be responsible for the ancillary equipment of the Slitting machines.
  • To minimise downtime and waste within the Conversion department.
  • To develop the efficiency of machine performance by effective troubleshooting and implementing improvements using CI techniques.
  • To be responsible for the consumable items used within the Slitting department.
  • To effectively operate within the parameters of schedule, ensuring that set times/run times are adhered to and equipment is ready for the next job.
  • Take due care and attention of equipment and resources with particular regard to Health & Safety, hygiene, good housekeeping and basic maintenance.
  • To ensure that Health, Safety and Hygiene procedures are followed at all times, including compliance with BRC criteria.
  • Carry out effective shift handovers to ensure continued quality and avoid unnecessary downtime issues.
  • To ensure all paperwork is ready for the job and next shift.
  • Locate materials ready for the job and new jobs pending.
