We are seeking experienced Probation Officers to work across the Probation Service in London. This is a varied and rewarding role, supporting people on probation, managing risk, and contributing to public protection through high-quality offender management and multi-agency working.

The post is paying £22.10 per hour PAYE or £29.09 per hour via an umbrella company.

Overview of the Role

You will work directly with people on probation to assess risk and needs, motivate change, and reduce reoffending, while maintaining accurate records and working closely with partner agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with people on probation to analyse behaviour and support positive change
  • Assess needs and risks using evidence-based tools (including OASys, SARA and RSR)
  • Manage the risk of serious harm and contribute to public protection arrangements
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records using NDelius and OASys
  • Make effective referrals and manage relationships with prisons, courts, Approved Premises, victim services and external agencies
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and organisational policies
Person Specification
  • Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma / Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Recent experience working for a recognised provider of probation services
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable individuals, motivating behavioural change
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, risk assessment and offender management
  • Experience of accredited programme delivery (e.g. BBR, TSP)
  • Ability to write detailed, high-quality reports to strict deadlines
  • Working knowledge of MAPPA and multi-agency working
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Competent in using Probation Service IT systems (NDelius, OASys)
  • Ability to travel to prisons, courts, Approved Premises and community locations as required
  • Flexible approach, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, relevant legislation and National Standards
