Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a qualified Probation Officer to work within the East of England Probation Service region based at HMP The Mount, Hertfordshire.
About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and qualified Probation Officer to support the delivery of the OMIC model within a prison setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing parole reports, attending parole hearings and working directly with people on probation to reduce reoffending and manage risk effectively. The role is based at HMP The Mount in Hemel Hempstead and offers the opportunity to work within a professional and supportive offender management environment.
The post:
- Competitive hourly rate – £21.75 per hour PAYE or £28.64 per hour via an umbrella company
- 37 hours per week
- 12-week temporary assignment
- Free parking available on site
- Start date: ASAP
Overview of the Role
The successful candidate will undertake duties including:
- Managing a caseload of people on probation within a prison setting
- Preparing high-quality parole and other statutory reports
- Attending and contributing to parole hearings
- Assessing risk and needs using OASys, SARA and RSR tools
- Supporting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending
- Delivering offender management in line with national standards and HMPPS procedures
- Maintaining accurate and timely case records on NDelius and OASys
- Working collaboratively with prisons, courts, Approved Premises and external agencies
- Promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work
Person Specification
- Probation Qualification Framework Graduate Diploma/Honours Degree in Community Justice integrated with Level 5 Diploma in Probation Practice, or equivalent recognised probation qualification
- Recent experience working within probation services within the last 5 years
- Experience using OASys, SARA, RSR and NDelius systems
- Experience preparing court and parole reports
- Strong understanding of offender risk assessment and management
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, Probation Service and National Standards
- Experience delivering accredited programmes such as BBR or TSP
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across agencies and with diverse communities
- Flexible approach to work, including occasional evenings and weekends where required
