Waste Enforcement Officer – £21.95 p/h

Hybrid working – but a lot of out and about investigation work

Initial 3 month contract, possible extensions

  • Experience delivering on-street statutory waste enforcement within a local authority, public sector organisation, or comparable contracted enforcement service.
  • Experience of engaging effectively with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders to resolve issues impacting the local environment, particularly those relating to waste, littering, fly-tipping, or duty of care.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with external partner agencies, including the police and other enforcement or regulatory bodies, to achieve compliance and joint outcomes.
  • Experience of managing a caseload of waste enforcement, compliance, or investigation-based cases on behalf of a front-line operational service.
  • Evidence-gathering and reporting skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate written statements, witness accounts, and case files to support formal or legal proceedings.
  • Knowledge of relevant waste and environmental legislation, in particular duties and offences under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
  • Resilience, professionalism, and confidence working in an on-street environment, including dealing with conflict and maintaining personal safety.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to their own vehicle.
