Our Mission

Reflection is a research lab making intelligence open and accessible for everyone to use, customize, and build on. We build open models that let anyone control their intelligence and help shape the future of AI. Our mission: make intelligence open and accessible to all.

Foundations

Vision: Build and operate a company-wide foundations platform that accelerates every team by providing reliable, scalable developer infrastructure, SRE capabilities, and high-throughput data ingestion tooling enabling Reflection to move faster as we scale.

What This Team Does

  • Build the internal and customer-facing product surfaces that turn platform capabilities into usable workflows.
  • This role sits at the intersection of engineering and product translating ambiguous requirements into clean, operable systems and taking ideas from early prototype to hardened production components.
  • Build internal product surfaces such as dashboards, admin tools, and self-serve workflows.
  • Own end-to-end delivery across UI, APIs, authentication, RBAC, and audit trails.
  • Integrate with customer environments and adjacent systems to ensure seamless workflows.
  • Productionize prototypes into reliable, maintainable, and operable platform components.
  • Translate fuzzy product requirements into clear system designs and usable interfaces.
  • Feed delivery learnings back into platform patterns and defaults so the next system ships faster.

What You’ll Work With

  • Full-Stack & API Development: React, TypeScript, REST, gRPC, FastAPI, Go services, API design.
  • Auth & Governance: OIDC authentication, RBAC, audit logging.
  • Workflows & Integrations: Event-driven systems, workflow orchestration, feature flags, customer integrations.
  • Monitoring & Developer Tooling: Dashboards, observability tooling, experiment tracking systems, metrics and log visualization.

About You

  • Strong full-stack engineering background with experience shipping production-grade applications end-to-end.
  • Comfortable owning the full delivery surface — UI through API through auth — without needing to hand off between layers.
  • Experience integrating with external systems or customer environments and making those integrations reliable and maintainable.
  • Thriving in a high-agency, fast-paced environment; bias toward action and impact.
  • Excited about zero to one challenges — turning prototypes into real systems rather than polishing existing ones.
  • Collaborative, clear communicator, comfortable working across research, platform, and product boundaries.
  • Motivated by building the tooling and workflows that let the world’s most capable open-weight AI systems get built faster.

What We Offer:

  • Top-tier compensation: Salary and equity structured to recognize and retain our talent globally.
  • Stock options: Everyone who joins and contributes to Reflection’s success gets to share in the upside through stock options.

  • Vacation days: Unlimited paid time off in the U.S. and 30 days in the U.K.

How to prepare for a job interview at Reflection

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Reflection uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
