We are looking for a motivated Tax Assistant to join our expanding Private Client Tax Team in Sleaford.
This is a newly created position within a growing department, offering an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse range of tax compliance and advisory matters.
The Role
As a Tax Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our busy Tax Team, working directly with clients and assisting on a wide variety of private client tax matters.
You will manage new client enquiries, support ongoing tax compliance work and contribute to one-off advisory projects, gaining valuable exposure across a broad range of specialist tax services.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, building client relationships and developing technical expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities will include
- Preparing Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax returns for individuals, estates and trusts.
- Preparing 60-day Capital Gains Tax submissions following residential property sales.
- Preparing R185s for estates and trusts.
- Assisting with estate and trust accounts.
- Supporting clients with tax planning, including gifting, lifetime planning and Deeds of Variation.
- Providing tax advice to executors and trustees.
- Assisting with Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief matters.
- Keeping up to date with tax legislation and supporting internal knowledge sharing.

- Manage file opening and closure procedures.
- Deliver outstanding service to existing clients.
- Assist with billing, financial administration and fee generation.
- The Ideal Candidate
Will be enthusiastic, organised and passionate about tax.
Essential
- Experience in accounts, tax, estates or trust matters.
- A genuine interest in tax and accountancy.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of client needs.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- High levels of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive attitude.
Desirable
- ATT and/or CTA qualification.
- STEP Diploma or willingness to study towards one.
- A relevant tax, accountancy or legal qualification.
- Experience using SOS Connect and/or IRIS.
- Knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
