Step into partnership. Shape the future. Join a firm with real heritage.

Are you a senior property or construction lawyer ready to take the next step into partnership? Do you enjoy complex, high-value disputes but still want a seat at the table on front-end project work? Would you like to join one of the oldest and most respected law firms in the UK, while helping to grow a modern, ambitious team?

We’re working with a highly successful and well-established law firm that is looking to appoint a Salaried Partner into its expanding Property & Construction team, based in Stamford.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded senior lawyer — particularly someone seeking their first partner role — who thrives on contentious construction work and enjoys working closely with clients throughout the lifecycle of major projects.

The Role

Working alongside the Head of Department and a strong team of lawyers, you’ll play a key role in delivering strategic, high-quality advice to a diverse client base, including employers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and trade federations.

Your work will be primarily focused on contentious construction and property matters, with an additional advisory element supporting clients at the front end of projects.

Core Focus – Contentious Property and Construction matters.

  • Acting in adjudications, arbitrations, mediations and litigation, including TCC proceedings
  • Advising on delays, defects, payment disputes, variations, termination and professional negligence
  • Managing complex disputes with a commercial, outcome-driven approach
  • Drafting and negotiating pleadings, submissions, witness statements and settlement agreements
  • Providing risk management and dispute avoidance advice on live projects

Supporting Work – Non-Contentious

  • Drafting and advising on construction and engineering contracts, professional appointments and collateral warranties
  • Advising on procurement strategy, risk allocation and contract administration
  • Collaborating with Real Estate and Corporate teams on wider transactions

Beyond the Legal Work

As a Partner, you’ll also:

  • Build and strengthen long-term client relationships through practical, solution-focused advice
  • Work closely with other partners on joint mandates and business development
  • Contribute to marketing, thought leadership, seminars and networking events
  • Mentor and support junior lawyers within the team

About You

  • Law degree with 8+ years’ PQE (construction law experience advantageous)
  • Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of client business needs
  • Confident in advocacy, negotiation and drafting
  • Comfortable working independently while thriving as part of a collaborative team
  • Able to manage multiple matters and strict deadlines
  • Full driving licence and access to a car during working hours

What’s on Offer

  • Highly competitive salary (DOE)
  • Life assurance at 3x salary
  • Salary exchange pension scheme
  • Discounts on legal and wealth management services
  • Generous holiday entitlement
  • Full-time hours: 09:00 – 17:15, Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week)

If you’re ready to step into partnership within a firm that combines historic credibility with a forward-thinking approach, this role deserves your attention.
